EggyBum69 Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 what is the point of buying Dummy cameras costing upto £30 when you could buy a old one say 380tvl or 420tvl for less off fleabay an use it, or even not use it an save some £ over the cheap china dummys http://www.maplin.co.uk/c/cctv-and-security/dummy-cameras-and-warning-signs an those ones with the red flashing lights that rotate just say to a thief its a fake, there the only ones with red flashing lights suppose you could mod a real mini cam into one an people would treat it as blag one but i would not waste the money myself, sorry for moaning guys just seems daft to me
datadiffusion Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 lol, true, I sometimes fit fakes as adjuncts to a real system. but NEVER fit the batteries. Exception being the one on the front bulkhead of my van. i think System Q sell the actual empty housings from theirs for a perfect match? So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands
EggyBum69 Posted February 8, 2014 Author Posted February 8, 2014 yeah like adt sell dummy alarm boxes to go with there real set ups those swann craplin domes look like there own real 1s £15 ffs ive see loads of real working box cameras going for £5 + 5 quid post hardly any1 bids on em if there not well listed
datadiffusion Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Local small chain budget DIY shop has (presumably) done just that. All of a sudden they have 50 traditional cameras, all clearly (once) real, in a small shop. No doubt some work, but can't believe all of them do. And clearly second hand, yellowed cases etc... So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands

datadiffusion Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Yeah if you didn't know better you'd say this shop is all real, joe average would. To be honest it suits the store which other than the goods being sold hasn't beentouched since it was once a finefare in the 1970s! Fake cameras on their own will always bite you on the **** in the end though, as the kids have proven! So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands

datadiffusion Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 I know the ones... On a stalk with a rubber fake cable? The only thing supposedly flushed in, in a cornershop full of crud surface wiring and bodges... So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands

And clearly second hand, yellowed cases etc... like 'safety' cameras - you know for a fact not all but some work, so your not sure if that one works or not, that causes uncertainty and so an effective deferent to speeding to drivers and thief's alike 'just in case'.a dummy bell has the same effect to some degree, ADT get a free advert if not a service contract. If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!
