Hi guys I'm looking for a wireless transmission system. Dome camera and microphone 400 metres line of sight from the control position. Obviously video and audio coming one way and telemetry going the other.

No internet facility available or required.

another thread has been talking about networking dvr's over power adapters, i looked them up (and also others on ebay) you would need the mains to be on the same phase ,

companies do WiFi extenders claiming 300 meters line of site. so possibly you could use these attached to a spare router for it's IP server allocation (without internet), or managed hub.

not tried much of this kit, only one set from loft office DVR to lounge router with great results and less hassle, worry i'd have is voice, even over direct cable it is a very low signal, needing amplified speakers to be heard on a PC, so might suffer noise. If you can be sure of same phase an idea could be those plug in intercoms used in offices, and interface it to the DVR audio input, but agin distance might cause noise even if it would go that far.

do you actually need ptz? really only useful if watched by an operator and used to scan live, what about covering with say 4 fixed cameras?

ip cameras with sd card slot might serve the need, depending how long a period you need to retain recordings, and use gsm modem/s.

Depends if you could protect it, how to be used, what your protecting and budget size, you could locate the dvr with a small pc or router that has a gsm card slot at the field, use an attached mobile phone as an internet modem for remote view over remote desktop program like no-ip.

If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!

I've done this but it wasnt cheap.

2 DM DVIP DVR's, one at each end and a wireless ip link between them using EnGenius Wifi units, approx 1Km.

You could probably just use an IP PTZ Camera connected to any Hybrid DVR now though

The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct!

(Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not)
