anthonini
Hi all, I'm an electrician and so new and green to CCTV. My boss has recently had his farmhouse broken into so has purchased some CCTV gear which we have installed. I've installed a 16 Channel Alien Hero DVR with 1TB hard drive, and 11 analogue IR dome cameras. Its all worked really well, but when i connect the video out on the DVR to the CCTV monitor using a BNC cable, the monitor shows 'No Input'. I know the cable is good, and it's not the monitor, both which work well with another DVR at our business premises. When i connect a VGA cable between the DVR and monitor its all singing and dancing. Does anyone have any idea as to why the BNC Video Out between the DVR and monitor would not work in this situation. I'm sure its something straightforward that i'm missing, which is even more frustrating! Thanks in advance Ant
RichL
Have you checked through all the inputs on the monitor? Lwillis
You need to change the video output from VGA to BNC. Make sure your not in the spot moniyer output. Try powering down the DVR and back up with only the BNC connected. Why not just use the VGA? I'd reccomend at least a 2TB HDD aswell
anthonini
Checked through all of the inputs on the monitor. There is not spot monitor output, just a single video out. Will try powering it down, and seeing if it detects the BNC with nothing else connected. Thanks for the advice re the hdd size, i can see how 1TB is on the smaller size. With regards to the VGA, the monitor is a few rooms away from the dvd, so we thought making up a BNC lead would be the best option? Thanks for your advice. Out of the two yes, although you'll find playback a PITA with the monitor and DVR in different locations.
