Scantronic 9751 RS232 facility

Does anyone know how easy or difficult is to implement RS232 port on Scantronic 9751 control panel.

9752 panel has this as standard and the panels are very similar, plus 9751 I believe uses the same pcb on which the pins for RS232 have been blanked off.

Do I need to solder any extra parts ie caps, resistors etc or soldering the port to the pcb will be enough?Since I have only one phone land line, I would prefer to use my laptop for programming 9751.

Any help on this would be much appreciated.

by the time you have done that you could have programmed it!

We just use the 9752 with a serial lead, think the 9751 needs the dci lead?

9752 is only a few quid more than the 9751 too

Thanks for your answer Kipper.

I already have 9751 and I was thinking if possible to solder RS232 port , this will save me time in the future if I need to re-program the panel as well as I already have a serial cable running to the understairs cupboard so might as well make use of it.

I am not concerned about how long it takes to solder RS232 port, all I wanted to know is if possible to implement this facility on 9751 and how?

Any new suggestions are still very welcome.

Hmm, not having ever tried modding one myself I couldn't say for certain, but I'd be suprised if this would work.

I suppose you could give it a try. I'd get both pcb's together for comparison first though.

It does sound a lot more trouble than it's worth. but i have modded other things in a simlar way.
