zerozero Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 Hi all, it's ok my maths isn't that bad and I mean 16 additional wired (on top of the 8 on board) - but the thing is I can get a good deal on a 48 with 32 wireless expansion bundle but I need more than 8 (+2 keypad) wired zones. I don't need all 32 wireless. So, my question is can I get 2 x 8XP and use the zones on there as long as I don't use all the 32 wireless zones? i.e. are they used on a first assigned, first come basis or are all 32 reserved straight away? I initially only need 6 wireless zones but I will need many more (probably like 24 or so) over time as I alarm all the windows with wireless. Going with an 88 with all the expansion cards etc and with no bundle deals get really expensive really quick.. Thanks in advance

norman Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 Ouch! Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.

Thanks in advance If you need more than 8 wireless in the future just buy the 32 wireless module now. Adding the 32 wireless card doesn't take up 32 zones, it only takes up however many devices you add. Don't however be under the illusion that the job you have mapped out will be straight forward, especially with the radio stuff. It is very picky on how it is installed and if you make a mistake, you'll pay for it. i never fitted texecom, but i do get calls to do the prgramming once the diyer has installed it, correcting the faults as u go along of course strange menu system aswell i thought, but then so do the diyers they cant figure out how ot programme it, makes me wonder how they come up with some of the menu ideas! What's so strange about the menu structure? I'd suggest the reason diyers call you because they can't program it is more to do with an amateur touching a panel that isn't designed for their market rather than any design errors on the menu structure. It is one of the simplest panels I've come across. www.securitywarehouse.co.uk/catalog/
Adi Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Agree with Matt, ive not been pro tex of late, but i cant fault its menu structure, piece of piss. I really can't be ar**** with it anymore.

Thanks Matthew, that answers my question, so I can go for a 48 with a 32 wireless then and I can still use this if I need more than 16 wired, that is great. I'll post my design on here once I have finalised it for any feedback. But essentially it is Premier 48 , 32 W (not 48-W, so has larger 2.5A PSU), some antimasking wired PIRs, some DT ricochets PIRs, 4 ricochet door contacts, some ricochet window contacts, 4 wired smoke/heat sensors. I want the doors to chime differently depending on the door (texe premier can only do 3 chimes so 2 doors will chime the same). I will get a battery splitter and put 2 batteries in and I want 2 active external bells. Also 2 internal sounders. Later I will install more ricochet window contacts and more wired PIRs upstairs and possibly another keypad (once they bring out wireless keypads as wiring to that part of the house will be troublesome) I would quite like text alert/control, but gsm module is quite expensive and telephone quite far away from control box install location so will leave for a later phase. Are there any other better manufacturers of these size/capability of panels? I'm happy with more flexibility which I think the texe gave me. I want 3 different chimes (for different doors) which was something that the texe did and I like the modularity and the richochet wireless seems very good. What kinds of problems are you talking about on the wireless? Usual interference type stuff, alarm sounding when microwaving etc ? I'm sure the neighbours will be understanding and like to know that we are eating regularly The instructions seem very clear on how to build and configure and I follow it all fine. Menu seems great and with ComIP I can program using a windows UI which would be my choice. I like the fact that their manuals are very comprehensive and I have read the 150page installers manual cover to cover and it all makes sense. I am a software and database developer and I have hobby history in electronics. Why wouldn't I want a texecom premier 48 + 32 Wireless and what would you guys recommend as an alternative to consider if you were me?
breff Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 If you are using a 48 with 16 wired zones, you will only be able to use 24 wireless unless you use 4 keypads and use the keypad zones for 8 of your wired zones The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct! (Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not)
matthew.brough Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Are there any other better manufacturers of these size/capability of panels? Yes but not for a diyer to install. This is by far the best product for a DIY install wanting to use big boys kit. What kinds of problems are you talking about on the wireless? Usual interference type stuff, alarm sounding when microwaving etc ? Bit more to it than that . . . The instructions seem very clear on how to build and configure and I follow it all fine. I am a software and database developer and I have hobby history in electronics. Building a house seems simple enough, when watching a pro do it and simple user codes is all that is required to turn it off. You won't be needing any select statements here. Believe it or not 150 page book is small in comparison to other manufacturers, just don't expect it to be a breeze 1st time. If you have the brainpower to deal with SQL and C# there isn't anything you shouldn't be able to work out and you can always pop back here for advice. There is no other gear I would recommend, this is the perfect panel for you and your setup. www.securitywarehouse.co.uk/catalog/
