zerozero
Hi guys, So I have a few Texecom Primier Elite Impaq Contact and door contacts and I want to screw them on my door frames with the magnets on the doors. The problem is that with the UPVC doors, they do not sit flush with the frame either if they open outwards or if they open inwards as I'm sure you are all familiar with. I'm hoping that someone knows a universally simple solution to this! One of the doors has the frame behind the door (it opens inwards) and this is fairly simple as there is not much of a taper, so the sensor doesn't end up to be too far away on the X dimension. but for the others (and of course they are all different) the frames have either a sharp diagonal or a convex bead so if I mount the sensor on the flat part of the frame that it will be outside of the tolerance for where the magnet needs to be. I was thinking perhaps I could use Caulk or something similar (never used caulk before.. so may be way off) to create a flat platform around the awkward frame edge shapes then drill in so it is as close to the door edge as possible, then run a upvc trim along the top of the door to provide extra height to get the magnet close to the sensor.. but perhaps that would look a mess. All of the sensors are going to go along the top of the frame rather than the side How would you guys do it? Thanks for any idea's!
sixwheeledbeast
Pictures of the windows/doors in question would be easier. Ideally the contact should be on the frame and the magnet on the door.

zerozero
Hah, I've been too busy with trying to work out how to fit this alarm to mow the damn lawn and the rabbits don't eat it fast enough! They do look a bit chunky but I don't mind too much as long as they are above the door.. most of my friends are short, so they won't even notice So no professional tips on fitting these things? You guys must come across these all over the place?
