secure4 Posted September 23, 2004 Posted September 23, 2004 The new rules for the installation of new and extensions to exiting electrical circuits come into force next year, I don't know the ins and out of it all but this is what i've been told, correct me if im wrong. You cannot TOUCH a consumer unit, (ok you can reset a breaker) You cannot add to an exisiting ring main or lighting ring. You cannot fit an additional spur. All the above now have to be carried out by a fully qualified electrician and have to be certified. SO what are you going to do? There is even talk of DIY stores being made to pull anything related to this from their shelves. (not a problem for the guys in the know, their all overpriced anyway) But, what happens? you ignore the legislation, someones house burns down, their insurance doesnt pay out because its not certified and yours doesnt because your a ------- Your screwed (worse case scenario). Message from Affinity I have edited out a word as no swearing is allowed on the site! It should have been edited out before a member had to notify us so apologies for it being left until now.
