al-yeti Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 How much is this all costing you, just thought other panels do a better job at same cost
rs1800 Posted June 14, 2014 Author Posted June 14, 2014 How much is this all costing you, just thought other panels do a better job at same cost My dad's friend who is retired used to fit scantronic and is doing installation cheap and I am buying parts. He doesn't know other panels. I have 4 x pirs, 1 x viper, 1 x door contact, and 3 x m12 I thought I could put all the smoke detectors on 1 zone so I could use a 9651 at 75ish. The 9751 with extender adds about 100 wish is a bit annoying for 1 zone! The only other thing I have just read about this panel is that it supports 2 internal speakers which would be good as i presume we need one upstairs too to hear the fire alarm in bed? 9651 only seems to support 1.
al-yeti Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 Even with 9651 you can add a sounder or second keypad upstairs although hallway speaker you should hear to, your better off with the 9751 , as later if you expand the system easier and less hassle
rs1800 Posted June 16, 2014 Author Posted June 16, 2014 Thanks al-yeti still left a bit confused about the conservatory detector (see my post 4 up) if anyone can assist. thanks
Adi Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 I'd go for a decent quad myself. I really can't be ar**** with it anymore.
Simlec Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 Forget using your intruder system for your fire alarm, its not a recognized method here in the uk. Buy some proper mains interlinked smoke alarms, they will probably save your life unlike the system wired in alarm cable.
rs1800 Posted June 17, 2014 Author Posted June 17, 2014 I'd go for a decent quad myself. Like the Optex FX50SQ? Forget using your intruder system for your fire alarm, its not a recognized method here in the uk. Buy some proper mains interlinked smoke alarms, they will probably save your life unlike the system wired in alarm cable. Wish I knew that before. Had the house rewired and alarm cables put in but didnt put mains where they are going. What is the problem?
Simlec Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 You should be able to pickup some mains off local lighting? and then use the wireless range. When the electrician rewired, did he not mention/recommend interlinked smoke alarms? http://www.aico.co.uk/ There are other brands. They even do a relay for linking to your intruder system if people require.
rs1800 Posted June 17, 2014 Author Posted June 17, 2014 Thanks Simlec, thats a great idea. Means I can stick with the smaller cheaper panel too. As interest why is doing it via the alarm a bad idea? Also those Aico's whilst very nice work out about £300. 3 x battery wireless (interlinked) is about £80. Are they significantly less safe if I regularly test?
Simlec Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 The top & bottom of it is your sounder circuit would need to be fire rated cable/connections. There is a list of things that don't conform to BS 5839-6.when using an intruder alarm as your fire alarm. But you should look at that £300 as money very well spent when (i hope it never happens to you) you and your family are out of the house safely as the fire brigade are trying to contain the fire !!! Its nothing to do with testing, as you should test all fire alarm/smoke alarms regularly.
