9651 Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 Such a thing? Ha! We normally use the standard tannoy looking things from TOA and the like, but we've got a customer is not a fan what so ever Any suggestions for a domestic situation? Im trying to tuck them under the eves as much as possible, but now she knows they are there, so now its obviously the end of the world Just want an easy life

norman Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 I thought he meant aesthetics? could you not mount one in something decorative? http://www.voiceoff.com/cgi-bin/commerce.exe?search=action&template=PDGCommTemplates/voiceoff/searchResultSounds.html&category=2804#soundcat_19 http://www.voiceoff.com/cgi-bin/commerce.exe?search=action&template=PDGCommTemplates/voiceoff/searchResultSounds.html&category=2802#soundcat_19 Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
antinode Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 We normally use the MPH30/T from QED, which is about the smallest tannoy speaker I've seen. Have a look on their site, it might be quite a bit smaller than the ones you've installed. Does the house have a decent sized soffit? If so, how about sourcing some soffit mounted speakers? Might be a pain cutting them in if they're wood, but you'd hardly notice them. Failing that, perhaps mounting the speaker in the eaves as close to the soffit as possible, drilling some vent holes then covering them with an extractor fan grille. If you whack the volume up a bit more to compensate, this might work. If you go for either of those options, make sure they're OK with them being cut out first of course. And don't forget, depending on when the place was built, the soffits could be made from asbestos cement or AIB, so be careful. Trade Member
9651 Posted June 19, 2014 Author Posted June 19, 2014 for the replies The soffits are all different on each face, so one that could be cut on on one face probably can't on the next I'm getting grief with the usual......too big, industrial looking. I've only ever fitted the classic tannoy type device, just wondering if there was anything nice looking for domestics Its for arc talk back

9651 Posted June 19, 2014 Author Posted June 19, 2014 Might look a bit odd with rocks sticking out if the soffits They are already wired, one on each face unfortunately

9651 Posted June 19, 2014 Author Posted June 19, 2014 So what do I need to get something like these running? Currently have a Toa amp with 70/100v output
james.wilson Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 all speakers are the same, pa spk have tranfomers. if the run is short then just run them of the 8 or 4 ohm outputs. if you need long runs (the reason for the higher voltage) you will need to transform them back down securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
