infernalsiren Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 I would like advice on the following issue. Customer had mentioned that broadband drops at random times but always came back. He has fibre and has the openreach vdsl filter plate fitted. I noticed that his A?T galaxy monitored alarm is spliced into the phone line in the loft where the line comes in, this line then continues to his master line box with vdsl plate. There are no other phone sockets fitted or in use. Could the alarm even if it has an Excelsus filter in it cause interference? Thanks
AlarmScot Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 The only way to fix that is to get Openreach out to fix it and it may cost him a small fortune. He could get a Local Phone Engineer out to look at it as many of them are ex-Openreach Lads.
datadiffusion Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 Shouldn't be 2 filters on one line. Needs to be connected in series with the filtered output from the VDSL plate and rest of telephones. Only thing connected to the unfiltered line should be the DSL modem. So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands
james.wilson Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 you can have multiple filters though for non xdsl stuff securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
datadiffusion Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 Not saying it wouldn't work, see it all the time, but I thought it would load the line up with parallel inductance? So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands
Paul P Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 If it was redcare clasic I don't think it needs to be filtered. The old adsl did not but i am a bit rusty on fibre. Trade Member
