Reason I ask is I answer my phone 'this is matthew' and 99 times out of 100 the called says is this matthew?

Well dufus if you listened to what I just said . . .

Got me thinking, when you phone someone, do you ever listen to what the other side says when the answer or is it just the people that ring me that are deaf?

I do that all the time its because you have in your mind what you are going to say when the phone is answered, You know who you are calling and you are checking that this is who you have. I never let plums that answer "this is Matthew " change me from asking if they are Matthew

Well it pisses me off!

Usually I ask if they listened to a word I just said. That throws the prepared off course and into panic :)
