Hi I have created a shopping list for a Texecom alarm system for a two bedroom bungalow, could you go over the list and please advise me of the following:

I have fitted alarms before but have never used this brand before.

Does the panel come with full instructions

Have I missed anything out

Have a made a good choice of system

The property has a detached garage can I use this system to protect it

1x Premier 24 panel

1x Premier remote keypad PRKPLCDL

1x Odyssey 3 External Sounder

5x Texecom pir (could you recommend a model there will be no pets on the property)

1x Cable (could you advise on which type)

1x Battery (could you advise on which type)

1x Texecom mains powered smoke alarm (can it be wired into panel)

Thanks

Wise choice of panel, you might want to consider a Premier 48 if you want to keep the garage as a separate area as the 24 doesnt have areas, only part sets. Yes the panels come with full instructions so they will guide you through all the programming, if not post on here and we can help. I not sure if LCDL with necessary but thats a personal choice, its just a bigger screen version of the usual LCD. Odessy 3, brilliant choice, has engineer hold off facility which allows one trip up the ladder to fit it without it sounding on battery.

As to pirs i would personally fit siemens ir120's, we fit loads of them and we never have any probs, plus if you ever get pets, you can fit filters on them.

Cable, i would recommend using 8 core, probably the CQR stuff or Ventcroft, they pretty much the same.

Battery, you should use a 7ah Yuasa battery, had a few problems with the Texecom ones in the past.

Anyway hope that helps

ps Dont listen to the 'I hate Texecom' brigade, they are good panels, we use every day with no probs plus the pc software is so easy.

pps Texecom smokes can be used on the system, just like a normal zone except you program it for fire, makes a different tone. Very good smokes!

We've been down this route before, everyone has differing opinions on equipment, a blanket ststement like that isn't very helpfull.

It's not so much a brigade, it's just Eng and Bellman.

Who both work for //.National Installer.//, who don't use Texecom equipment.

By all means ask //.National Installer.// for a quote. And talk to people in your area with //.National Installer.// systems to see what they think of the service. And make sure you're aware of all the monthly charges.

But we (and many others on here) have fitted Texecom equipment for years with no problems. It's quality gear, you won't be disappointed!

Here we go again :!: , what difference does my employer make ???????

As i've explained before, I'm a newbie to //.National Installer.// and my opinions of Texecom equipment were formed many years before I came to work for //.National Installer.//.

I've fitted Texecom stuff for many years and have failed to be impressed by it.

as for the premier, it's a menvier clone, They hired away several menvier R&D guys to develop it.

Oh, and by the way, feel free to talk to my customers, they will tell you they are delighted with the service I provide em. :D

I've used dozens of different manufacturers equipment over the 15 years i've been in the trade, some i like, some i lothe.

Anyway, I like playing devils advocate. :D
