Adi Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 Am i right in thinking that it is a 2 year guarantee that should be given? Parts and labour I really can't be ar**** with it anymore.
Monteey Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 Generally 1 year, but every company has its own policies. Service Engineer Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 1 Year is the Standard Installer Guarantee period. Even though some manufacturers offer a 10 year guarantee on its products. ........................................................ Dave Partridge (Romec Service Engineer)
ian.cant Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 Definatley 1 year only even if its a 5 year on the part im installing.
Guest RICHL Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 Definately one year. If its two or more how are you going to justify a maintenance charge?
Adi Posted September 29, 2004 Author Posted September 29, 2004 Im not concerned with the manafactures guarantee as such, more from a legal point of view. I seem to remember reading an article somewhere that the ***** from europe said that work must guaranteed for 2 years, maybe im mistaken. Thanks anyway. I really can't be ar**** with it anymore.
neil.c Posted September 29, 2004 Posted September 29, 2004 I think you may be correct with this Adi I belive it became law last year sometime which coincided with car manufacturers who only offered 1 year warranty extending it to two. Although I still see 1 year guarantees advertised.
Adi Posted September 30, 2004 Author Posted September 30, 2004 Ive been trying to remember where I read it. I dont mind giving the customer 2 years if thats the way it is, but dont want to give them 1 year and have a know it all customer giving me the ins and outs of guarantees. Thou shall find out. I really can't be ar**** with it anymore.
jb-eye Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 A term of reference we always use is "guarantee parts can only be exchanged FOC during business hours" in other words if it fails after closing then the call out has to be paid for. Essential everything gets at least a call charge guaranteed or not, unless the customer decides to take the risk and wait. Jef Customers!
