Guest Puzzled_User Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 I have an monitored alarm and want to install ADSL broadband on the same line. For normal phone connections I will use microfilters for splitting the voice /DSL signals. I asked my alarm installer about requirements for the alarm itself and the alarm company advise that the digicom device I have will not share with broadband. The engineer said that the problem was with prioritisation of access to the line as the dialer grabs priority access even if the phone is being used. With broadband on the same physical line, he seemed pretty clear that a conflict would arise, and said an additional BT line was needed for the alarm. Can anyone offer any comment about this as I have researched it quite a bit and microfilter suppliers suggest it is not a problem fitting a splitter such as http://www.excelsus-tech.com/index.cfm?fus...tail&id=1749756 It seems an expensive way forward to get another BT line installed. Many Thanks in advance. Great Forum, Gerard
Guest Cable Guy Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 This looks like the filter for you, have never fitted one but according to the spec. It covers all your needs including first in line ( prioritizing / Line seizure ) I will certainly be trying them out myself
Smart Electrics Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 The filter in question does have screw terminals and is designed for the security industry. I have had no bad reports about these filters
