Guest Fruitbat152 Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 Hi all, I've just moved into a house with an Accenta alarm fitted by the previous occupant. Having finally figured out how to unlock the keypad (it was stuck on 'Attack' but that turned out to be because the remote keyswitch was turned) I've been trying to check everything works OK. I went through the test procedure shown in the manual and all the zones seem to respond correctly, the strobe and the sounder are fine. However, setting the alarm is proving a little tricky. Following the instructions, I enter the code and check that the system is clear, then exit via the front door. I then listen through the letterbox until the exit beep tone stops, which apparently means the system is set. Then I open the door, the control panel beeps for about 10-15 seconds, then stops. I can wander about the house tripping all the IR sensors and whatever I do, the alarm doesn't go off! What have I done wrong? Any help/suggestions would be much appreciated.
CompostCORNER Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 Your panel could well be fitted with a bell delay. If you enter your code after you have generated an alarm, does the offending zone light up on the remote keypad? If it does, then it looks like your system has a bell delay set up. Would have thought this delay is a 10 minute one. Most if not all the panels I remember that have a bell delay, will still count down an entry timer thats audiable if the entry exit detector is activated, silencing once the time runs out. To find out if a bell delay exists, set your alarm off and leave it alone for 10 minutes or so to see if the bells eventually kick in. Tony
Nova-Security Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 Press the 4 + 9 together on the keypad, just to see if any sounder working, they could not even be connected ! Just read post you did say the sounders are fine. www.nova-security.co.uk www.nsiapproved.co.uk No PMs please unless i know you or you are using this board with your proper name.
Guest Guest Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 Thanks for your help guys... you're right about the remote keyswitch - it's a panic button with a key in the front, but with the key turned to the wrong notch the attack light shows and the keypad locks out. I'll go and try the "set your alarm off and leave it alone for 10 minutes or so to see if the bells eventually kick in" in a minute. As far as a receiving centre/plonker is concerned, I have no idea who programmed it or whether it's connected to a receiving centre... would it need a phone line to have been connected to a receiving centre? If so it probably isn't any more, since we have changed phone providers and the previous occupier took her number with her. What do I do about getting the bell delay de-programmed? (If that's what it turns out to be)
Guest Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 Might be an idea to get the system serviced as it sounds like the panic button needs attention for a start. Also, a dialler could still work if it was wired in as it only needs an active line to dial out, it doesn't matter what the number is on that line, although if it is dialling out whoever was receiving the call would have contacted you by now! As for de-programming the bell delay, you'd be better off having the system serviced as it may not be in tip-top health if it hasn't been programmed properly from day 1 and the engineer who services it can sort that out.
Guest Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 Press the 4 + 9 together on the keypad, just to see if any sounder working, they could not even be connected ! 25522[/snapback] But that will only work if keypad PA is set in the systems programming, which it usually is but not neccesarily.
Guest ALARMO Posted October 3, 2004 Posted October 3, 2004 On the new accenta it has two user coads and a duress code and if the duress coad is programed it sets all PA alarms as a silent PA wich won,t sound the bell box
