datadiffusion Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 Erm, bumping and snapping are VERY different! So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands
MrHappy Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 most in the security trade......have 5 lever mortices or anti snap euros. Since I started fitting locks for a fiver I leave my door unlocked as I nowt left to steal Mr Veritas God
norman Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 What lock do you get fitted for a fiver btw? Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
sixwheeledbeast Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 Erm, bumping and snapping are VERY different! Well I mean the idea is the samefor my example, you could drill the cylinder as well, for that matter. Since I started fitting locks for a fiver I leave my door unlocked as I nowt left to steal Lol. No locksmiths left over in the east then?
datadiffusion Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 Well I mean the idea is the samefor my example, you could drill the cylinder as well, for that matter. You could, although H is right, almost laughed the other day, about 20 minutes worth of abuse done to break into an empty house (no one saw them as last house on a dead end road), it would have been easier to saw the entire frame out of the wall the effort these skag heads put in, because they clearly hadn't heard of lock snapping! So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands
AlarmScot Posted October 19, 2014 Author Posted October 19, 2014 I with norman on this, industry is fooked. Reckon my prices are middle of the road as such, and i get no end of domestic who expect to pay **** all for an install, i hardly bother with domestic intruder anymore. We are a business not a charity, not diy sos, fitting a lock for a fiver is a piss take. We only install locks for fiver to domestic properties as I think its more a point to possible do future work in home as most often get Alarm Fitted. Also they properly have a better buying power than what you be able to buy a lock for. OK, because people who fit things for little or no profit are the reason this and many other industries are on it's ****. I don't fit locks but I hope someone doesn't start fitting alarms or whatever your company does for 'little or no profit' cos (sp) they want homes to be safe. Now do you see? Indeed it is, monkeys and peanuts. We install alarms and allow customer to finance the alarm via monthly price from like £6 a month for basic system. Which time you include Alarm Monitoring, Maintenance and Key holding its more like £25 + a month depending on if you want Police Response. which before you know it your getting a few thousand pound alarm fitted. So installing a lock for a fiver is the smaller picture! I was thinking of AS's point on replacing **** locks, i agree the client probably would be grateful of the advice/service, but im sure as fook do it for a fiver. As said before its more about once in somebody home there more likely going to return to ourselves for a price and trust us first other somebody else which makes it easy to get a service like Alarm or etc.
AlarmScot Posted October 19, 2014 Author Posted October 19, 2014 I sell Avocet ones, easy quote at survey as I price all double sided and single sided (i.e garage door, metal shed door, cabinets etc...) the same. I add 25% to my cost and fit free. Either they want it or not, as Norm says easy money as you're already there. TO answer somebody question, We sell and install Avocet ABS locks.
norman Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 Do you ever read your posts back? Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.

datadiffusion Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 I keep calling Norm to read mine, but keep getting voicemail... Or heavy breathing. So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands
