bellman Posted October 7, 2004 Posted October 7, 2004 I think we should be helping people out in some situations and it is a fine line to judge, but the original post in this topic suggests that the 'customer' should have a visit from a professional 26375[/snapback] I was refering to this Pete, sorry I should have quoted in my previous message.. Regards Bellman Service Engineer and all round nice bloke ) The views above are mine and NOT those of my employer.

Brian c Posted October 7, 2004 Posted October 7, 2004 I'll be your friend Pete If you don't know......ask.
Brian c Posted October 7, 2004 Posted October 7, 2004 It is an issue that needs to be addressed more fully than it has been, though. I know there is a trade forum and non-trade, but it doesn't hit you in the face where a post has been made. We should be limiting advice to non-trade members to user functions only and anyone who wants trade advice can join as a trade member and prove, through their posts or other means, that they are in the trade. I may get some stick for this (no balloon) but it is what I think. I agree with Pete, ianand JBeye from previous posts, that engineers have trained long and hard(and shelled out for college, courses, etc) to get the experience we have. Why should we be giving away 'trade secrets' to anyone except engineers.ESPECIALLY IN OUR INDUSTRY If you don't know......ask.
Guest Guest Posted October 7, 2004 Posted October 7, 2004 I agree guys. But dont think it will happen as it would kill the forums.
Guest Guest Posted October 7, 2004 Posted October 7, 2004 Most of the queries are diy and where would the line be? and most people just wont post, look at the posts over the last few months it seems to have dropped off. Most of the trade guys dont ask questions?

I know I do If you don't know......ask.
