FalconSecurity Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 I have a galaxy flex panel and want to add wireless to it. I understand I can use both the Galaxy Flex Direct Mount RF Portal (A073-00-01) and also the C079-2 (RF portal in plastic housing). Is there any advantage/disadvantage between them? I assume that I could still use the C079-2 if I upgrade my current panel to a galaxy dimension? Also I assume that the C079-2 can be located away from the main panel and so would be able to locate it to get the best signal? Quote
james.wilson Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 Depends. If your panel is central then it should be fine. External portal will give more flexability. Ideally you need to do an RF survey. GalaxyGuy Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 It's just a casing difference. You can remove the PCB from the C079 and place inside the Flex casing. There's a slot on the right hand side of the Flex plastics designed for the portal. Likewise, you can take the direct mount module and place it in a RIO casing, although you do need two plastic standoffs and tamper spring for correct installation. I suppose if you get the C079 based portal, then you have all the parts to go local or remote. Quote
