i disagree G, will be the end of keypads

the day i walk thru the door and shout turn the alarm off and some voice sings back a french nursery rhyme is the day i give up drinking

So you mean a smartphone application linked to the panel, like a remote ACE?

 

TBH we have customers that are so lazy they want the alarm to know they are offsite or in bed and arm themselves.

Then automagically disarm for them. I doubt speaking to the alarm is the overall solution.

Still I doubt we will see the end of the keypad for some time yet.

i bet within 3 yrs domestics will be hiding keypads again (under stairs etc) and using apps. in 30-40% of installs. Then after that systems will be using apps and gps etc as 6wb says. The panels will be running a normal os (maybe linux / android but probably a version of windows) but this does heavily depend on what becomes the big car os.

nah the 1st of jan as all the previous fails..

the voice thing will never work as the banks etc have found after spending billions on voice menus,no software can tell the difference between regional accents in the uk,a cheap alarm app doesnt stand a chance
