a1steve Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 Hi all I am for a bit off advice I have got a site with 6 lifts and the customers wants to install camera in all the lifts. I am going to get prices from the list ft company to do the work but I am looking at using a wirless lift camera system has anyone used one before and are the ok or have you had problems with them or would you get them to cable the lift instead ? Alpat Systems Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 The majority of modern lifts have spare pairs available in the control wires, some may even be assigned for cctv use. Don't use wireless, it won't work in this situation Quote
james.wilson Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 As above I've only used a spare pair Quote securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
JB_ Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 We worked with the lift co. who installed a Cat 5 loom from car to cabinet(although it was for IP cam). Even if using spare pairs we'd still go through lift co. to do it. Quote
DannyTheTech Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 Defenatly go with the wired option, Far to may variables that will cause problems with a wireless soloution. Also you will need to get power to the camera so there will have to be some cabling for that anyway. Quote

datadiffusion Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 (edited) Don't forget even if there is only a single spare pair, even if not twsited, you can get 2-wire IP transmitters such as from Solwise Edited May 20, 2015 by datadiffusion Quote So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands

a1steve Posted May 20, 2015 Author Posted May 20, 2015 If I have got a spare pair in the lift are you using a video balun or are you just putting the camera on the end and getting the power of the lift lights ? Quote
datadiffusion Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 Hi have you got a part number I have looked on solwise website and can't find 2 wire transmitter http://www.solwise.co.uk/net-powerline-homeplug-tp.html It says twisted pair but they admit themselves it works perfectly on crappy CCA doorbell cable, so should be fine on short runs and cant imagine a lift company using rubbish cables in the loom.
