Also, if people do let the batteries run down and not replace, with a dedicated MCB it's even easier to just turn the whole lot off

to stop the 'annoying bleeping', so that's another good reason to have them on the same MCB as something people can't do without.

Agreed, it's a 17th edition thing iirc.

Mains smokes are BS5839 part 6 and should be installed to the FRA and certified accordingly regardless of the electrical cert (though this is also required)
