dwdave Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 I've got the Galaxy 500 panel powered up and have hooked in the RS232 module for use alongside Galaxy Gold. I just cant seem to get the two to talk to each other. I set up the coms ports (on PC) but the option to "Dial" site is greyed out. Its been ages since ive used it but I must be overlooking something. Any ideas? Thanks. Quote 'till the next question ...
james.wilson Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 you are using a null modem lead and have the bitrates etc on both bits matched Quote securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
dwdave Posted July 2, 2015 Author Posted July 2, 2015 I'm pretty sure one of the cables is one I've used before but I will check. I've got a serial cable and a converter to up size it to parallel. I will set the baud rate at 9600 on the module, galaxy gold and the comm port of the pc. From what I recall it just plugs into the S1 socket on the 500's main board. It doesn't need Extra Lines does it? Thanks Quote 'till the next question ...
james.wilson Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 still needs a null serial modem lead, not a parallel one mate Quote securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
dwdave Posted July 3, 2015 Author Posted July 3, 2015 I'm turning my serial cable into a definite 9 to 25 pin null modem cable tonight. Just looking for the right pin maps. Quote 'till the next question ...
dwdave Posted July 3, 2015 Author Posted July 3, 2015 So it turns out you need to click "new site" before trying to dial into it. Cables worked fine which means I don't have to sit in the loft in this heat. Solved. Thanks for your help though. Quote 'till the next question ...

Bet your panel doesn't last long, replaced so many in the loft due to the changes in temperature.
