a1steve Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Hi I know axis do a Poe cctv camera that you can you a sd card in the camera so it records to the sd card. I got a customer that's wants to set up 1 camera to record to a sd card instead of paying for a dvr or remote hard drive. You can do it but will need to get a Poe injector for the power for the camera Has any ever tried it or know a good camera that you would be able to record to sd card. Quote
GalaxyGuy Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 I use the Axis range. They can be set to trigger on movement and then record X seconds of footage to the SD. They're good, but not cheap. Quote

whistle Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Fitted loads of external Axis cameras and used the SD card as a backup set up on motion only. As I say the SD is only a backup the NVRs record as well. Quote
sixwheeledbeast Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 Most will do this but there are downfalls. As mentioned it's easy to steal the card or camera. Also the flash memory (SD card) will get worn eventually, flash isn't good for continuous 'write' tasks. Wear levelling has increased the life of flash cards/sticks but still not really designed for this. Quote
caringeye Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Yeah, the Axis SD element is only really used for resilience in case of minor network downtime. Quote
