I don't think they make them any more (it was their only MC product) so I guess I wasn't the only one.

So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands

Well, I've heard that Knight use only EU or US made ones, I assume Elmdene buy 'locally' in China as they manufacture over there, and Ventcroft I can only guess must have bought a really sh1tty batch from god knows where.

I have never had a door contact fail like that before, an RSD yes, although that wasn't welded shut that was random opening.

IIRC Ademco was once a large supplier of glass reeds?

I have experienced both Knight & CQR to fail, open, closed or spaz out....

I think graded contacts with pcb's are worse than resistors fitted into BS contacts for failing

back in the golden age of DP when Arf was getting on the waiting list for a bus pass...

You could measure the circuit during servicing & find failing contacts which going hi Ω, an extra 50Ω ain't never going show up on EOL

Mr Happy, Arf is my nickname on this site and I've got a bus pass..never use it though..can't find any buses in my part of the world..horse and cart maybe, but very few buses.. I agree with you, at least there was a chance of finding the high value resistor. Is there anything in the regs that says we can't use a straight forward contact with our own (the panel) resistors ?

OK then, you can call me Arf Lite, or anything else for that matter. There shouldn't be anything in 'the regs' regarding eol's since resistors are still provided with panels (not all of them of course !!).

Some say he took retirement, dissolusioned with the forum, it's posters, and the industry he once loved.

There are others, who say he never left...
