netjordan Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 Hello I'm in the process of installing a Galaxy G2-20 but have run into a bit of an issue, Essentially connecting the battery seems to 'break' something. With AC connected, and battery connected the SAB power and Keypad LCD (and Keypad Backlight) turns off. Keypad LED Remains on and AUX Power Remains on. Removal of the battery returns power output & keypad to expected functionality. I've checked the polarity & voltage at various points and all seems good. Anyone got any ideas or seen this before? norman Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 Is the battery charged? What type and Ah is it? Quote Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
netjordan Posted March 12, 2016 Author Posted March 12, 2016 Is the battery charged? What type and Ah is it? It's a 7Ah Lead Acid battery. Voltage on the battery is about 12.5V, when connected to the panel the 12v outputs on the panel are around 2.5V Quote
Lwillis Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 Is the battery charged correctly. Seems few batteries with reversed polarity on them. Quote
netjordan Posted March 12, 2016 Author Posted March 12, 2016 Is the battery charged correctly. Seems few batteries with reversed polarity on them. Just checked polarity and voltage of the battery with a multimeter - 12.9V and polarity correct. I've tried three different batteries, with the latest one being brand new. Quote
norman Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 Where did you source the panel from? Quote Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
netjordan Posted March 12, 2016 Author Posted March 12, 2016 Where did you source the panel from? It was from eBay - brand new. Came with all the packaging, manuals, screws and resistors etc. Quote
norman Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 Remove everything except the rkp and try again with the battery. Quote Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
Nova-Security Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 battery could be knackered, seen batteries with 12v on meter but current reading less than 1amp, cells had gone low resistance, check battery resistance with meter. al-yeti Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 He tried three batteries , I say it's the panel , had some where they give either continuous battery mis or mains fail , probably sold on eBay for that Raise case on eBay asap not as described Quote
