GraemeReddish Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 Hi, I have a job to install a galaxy G2 using a digicom, the customer has BT infinity fibre (FTTC) does a standard DSL filter work with the broad band or does it have to be specific to the fibre service? Thanks, Graeme Quote
Simlec Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 The customer should have a filtered master face plate, so your connection to the voice part will not require any filters nor do the telephones. Quote
sixwheeledbeast Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 As above. With vDSL it's filtered at the master socket. Quote
GraemeReddish Posted March 17, 2016 Author Posted March 17, 2016 Great stuff it's only just getting up and running around these parts so not had an install on one yet, thanks for the prompt replies Quote
Adi Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 Its still copper from the box. Quote I really can't be ar**** with it anymore.
datadiffusion Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 (edited) I've seen BT do all sorts, isn't engineer installation over now as they've proven 'acceptable' performance on self install plug in filters? When we got upgraded here at the new house, we had to wait for the guy to do the gubbins outdoors at the cabinet, but no appointment in the house. We were send a HH5 with plug in filters... Of course I've fitted a mk 3 faceplate, but if I hadn't we would have had infinity on a 1980s linebox and plug ins... suspect they just wing it now, hoping that only 1 in 4 will have to call in an engineer to the house itself... Edited March 17, 2016 by datadiffusion Quote So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands
GraemeReddish Posted March 18, 2016 Author Posted March 18, 2016 Sounds about right, for the £10 they are selling for on eBay I'll buy one and keep it on the van incase Quote
sixwheeledbeast Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 We were send a HH5 with plug in filters... Maybe an admin **** up? HH5 can do ADSL and VDSL automatically You maybe right, I suppose for most people they will see an improved in speed without coming to site. I can't say I have seen Infinity without a MK3 etc round here. Quote
Adi Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 I'll check what mine is. Quote I really can't be ar**** with it anymore.
GraemeReddish Posted March 19, 2016 Author Posted March 19, 2016 Had a chat with the customer earlier and they are using a plug in filter supplied with the HH5, as mentioned before I will install a mk3 faceplate as there only a couple of quid more than the Z-blocker that I normally use. Quote
