Guest mod Posted October 21, 2004 Posted October 21, 2004 Dear all, Like many others, I've recently moved house and find myself with a veritas R8 system. It's been in the house since it was built circa-1997. All I have documentation-wise is a quick ref leaflet which shows how to perform common tasks like set/unset/code change, and a post-it note left by the previous owner with the alarm code. I'd been in the house about a week and hadn't touched the alarm at all when it went off around midnight one night, just the internal siren and the external strobe. The external siren stayed quiet (fortunately!) The code I have did not silence the alarm, it eventually reset after about 30 mins. My guess is that something happened to set off the tamper alarm - no idea what though. Now, I'm unable to set the alarm - I type in my code, the unset light starts to flash (all normal) when I press "Full" I get an error tone and the unset light continues to flash. If I press "00", at this point, lights 1-8 light up, if I then press "01" as if I'm changing the code I again get an error tone. I've also successfully conducted a walk-test with no problems. I managed to get the installation/programming manual from the texecom website, but it for the post-1999 version so not much help. Can anyone offer any help or pointers? Thanks in advance, MOD...
FASTCAR Posted October 21, 2004 Posted October 21, 2004 You are using the engineer code. This allows you to do anything ..apart from arm / disarm. Your best bet is to get an engineer to reprogram it for you. You could default it back to factory presets from eng. mode , but these presets may not suit. BTW have you tried 4321 user code. Regards.

Regards. 28382[/snapback] Thanks for the reply. The d*mn thing went off again last night, it seems any kind of touching the keypad results in a tamper alarm after a while. Owing to work commitments it'll be at least a week before I can get an engineer out. Do you know if it's possible to disable the tamper facility using the engineer code in the meanwhile? BTW Had already tried the default code - needless to say it didn't work! Thanks again, MOD
FASTCAR Posted October 22, 2004 Posted October 22, 2004 Enter your engineers code , then 0,0 , this puts you in engineer mode , so all tamper circuits are off.
