Hi Guys,

At first I would like to say hello to all of you.

I've recently bought a house where there is old ADT installation which I would like to remove. However I'm not quite sure if I can do it without triggering anything(I know alarm is deactivated and there's no contract with ADT at the moment).

I would normally first do a search but I don't even know what model it is, that's a picture of it: Picture of old ADT central panel

If I would start taking everything apart, disconnect cable, disassemble panel will it trigger the siren? Is there any additional 'hidden' module that would trigger it? What would be the best way to approach that?

Also I would like to put something new in place, as far as I've seen people recommended:
Honeywell galaxy flex
something from Texecore
Will that be easy enough for a person with some DIY/bit of electronic/IT skills to fit it? Will I be able to use existing wire connections for the siren(my guess is a yes)

Many thanks for all the answers and kind regards,

Mr.T.

Go to the bell and disconnect the battery, remove alarm panel internally - once power is removed from the panel the bell is totally dead, yes same connections but dependant on what panel is being installed will determine connections in the panel end (obviously). Check siren connections though incase the old installers have done anything dodge...

IMO i'd replace with Galaxy but it's mainly up to you on which you prefer. Both do a good job.

Unfortunately there will be no cables to disconnect or reuse as the picture shows the Honeywell lesucre wireless system. I'm not sure but I think the wireless PIR & door contacts can be used with the galaxy wireless  range but fitting a pro panel is not for the DIYer.

It's all wireless and none of it can be wired. The only one with mains is the  little control panel thing with sim card in, which has a mains plug in adapter.

Why would you avoid Galaxy ?

I've dealt with it twice, both times was a ache, to the point I had no visible way to wire a internal sounder in.

I think it's a case of stick to what you know, Castle is tried and tested. Just because a multinational uses the kit everyday doesnt make it good! Again, personal preference.

Castle & Honeywell are tried and tested.
