norman
Well they are, you couldn't swap without having to code to the new vehicle. I have the Carly software for my car and have coded in various functions. Not something I think Joe public would do but the information is readily available on the www. The software and lead were reasonably priced iirc. Quote Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
al-yeti
Yes but not locked to a chassis no, you can swap ecu key etc altogether no problem and various other combinations of programming and house bashing

The system price will be much less than £500, but will not be as little as £50. The Galaxy G2-12 based system can cost as little as £150 and Ethernet can be added for £50 to £200 depending on the module. Some parts of these systems are priced reasonably. Add detection, bell, cable, internal sounder, battery, and VAT and you still wont have much change from £500 though.
GalaxyGuy
I had included the bell, wiring Etc. in the £150 price. Plenty of distributors out there seem to be 'splitting kits' and the ancillaries are really cheap too.
PeterJames
Crap detectors crap bell crap panel for £150.00 I pay that just for a panel! Mind you I dont have to keep going back to stuff under warranty
GalaxyGuy
Honeywell G2-12 panel, honeywell detectors, texecom sounder. Never a glitch. Only seen one g2-12 panel fail doa and that was because the installers screwdriver spun across the pcb ripping off a couple of resistors along the way.
