Hi all,

Im looking to trial facial recognition software, at the moment it will be just for me to play around with at home but hope to introduce the thought to HQ providing i can justify the cost.

Does anyone know where i could gain a software freeware trial? without this costing me £££££££££££ from my own pocket.I dont mind spending a small amount of my hard earned cash...

Let me know if you have any suggestions.

Has it got to be Facial Recognition..?

Facial recognition software is easily tripped up by changes in hairstyle or facial hair, by aging, weight gain or loss, and by simple disguises. A study by the Department of Defense found very high error rates even under ideal conditions, where the subject is staring directly into the camera under bright lights. The study found very high rates of both "false positives" (wrongly matching people with photos of others) and "false negatives" (not catching people in the database).

Yep, im aware that it does have a lot of flaws, even to the simplest,BASEBALL CAPS AND SCARFS! GLASSES + WIGS.

However, most biometrics recognition go by facial width + height + distance between eyes+ nose to lip etc etc .... okay so we all look similar one way or another but SURELY this kind of technology is the way forward for early warnings of trespassers or shoplifters?

ANY IDEAS ??? to trial beta or full version software?

I dont know of any commercially available facial recognition systems although i am sure there is some outhtere, it is still a new technology as far as i am aware.

I would think you wont find any software.

I do happen to know (found few in Essen). I have some info which I will PM (since you are not a trade member) ASAP. If anyone else is interested --> start a topic under trade member section or if Dave agrees I can put info also here.

At he moment we have Access Control "reader" that recognises the face according to eye and mouth area recognition and also the windows software for the PC.

I'll be out of office from today 16:00 to wednesday evening (business trip to several papermills in eastern Finland). so after that i'll be able to give specific information.

I suggest Peter that you work meanwhile towards Trade Membership.

Could you share the possible application so the "jury" can give an opinion if it is legal..

Free trial shouldn't be a problem thou.

We install lots of biometric readers from recognition systems and If you are looking to use facial recognition as a means of early warning, then you are going to struggle as the technology just isn't up to the job yet. No manufacturer will give out trial software as competition is very high in this market sector, best you can hope to get would be an onsite demo.
