Texecom AEC-0001 Glass Break Latching

Hi,

 

The Texecom AEC-0001 glass break detector looks good and is a good price, but I don't fully understand the description of the Latch input, or there is some info missing. It explains the wiring of LATCH to Set+ or AL+ but it does not say if there is a method of using it in non-latched mode. For example, what I would like is for the alarm output of it to actuate for 1 or 2 seconds only if it detects a glass break. The Pyronix BG16DF has a jumper to set latched or normal. In normal it actuates the alarm output for 5 seconds then resets. Can I do 'normal' with the Texecom and if so, how, please?

Hi Bee_man, The latch functions are in the manual (very tiny). I've copied them here. Jim

 

Latch Input Functions
The latch terminal can perform several different functions depending on
how it is connected:
Latch Connected to Set Positive (SW+, Set+): The LED’s will be disabled
while the system is set. Any detectors triggered while the system is set
will indicate this by permanently lighting the red LED (upon unsetting
the system). Detectors can be reset by taking the latch line high and then
low again.
Latch Connected to Alarm Positive (AL+, A+ve): The first detector activated
while the system is set will indicate this with a slowly flashing red LED (upon
unsetting the system). Detectors which activated subsequently will indicate
this by permanently lighting the red LED. Detectors can be reset by taking
the latch line high and then low again.

A latch line is a way of having multiple devices of the same type on one zone. The first to active will be indicated when the system is unset, then this clears upon arming.

If you don't require the latch line, don't use it the device will work fine.
