Gdsmlodge Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 Hi everyone hope someone can help me out . We have very large pharapet gutters on the house here and suffer every winter with leaks as they block up and overflow the lead work . We have a house alarm fitted with numberous PIR sensors etc . My question is - would we be able to install a number of float switchs on the roof to trigger the main house alarm ? ? Hope this will make sense all help is very much appreciated kind regards W Quote
norman Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 Technically yes, but it would end up being a noise nuisance, get a dedicated stand alone system. Quote Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
Jim Randle Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 Depends on your control panel. We mainly use Texecom Elite panels. On those you can program Custom Zones that only trigger internal alarms or warning tones. Jim Quote
sixwheeledbeast Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 I wouldn't want it triggering an intruder alarm I would want something separate. There are flood detectors available that maybe able to work for your application. Maybe money would be better spent on the roof? Some way of stopping the leaves and gunk getting in the channel in the first place? Quote
MrHappy Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 I'd think you'd be better spending the money on couple of visits to clean the gutter in the autumn rather than alarms... or something like - https://hedgehog-gutter-brush.co.uk/ 1 Quote Mr Veritas God
sixwheeledbeast Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 Them gutter bushes work great for normal gutters but from the OP I imagine this is a large lead channel between two roofs. I was thinking thin galv wire mesh rolled into a tube shape? Quote

Gdsmlodge Posted September 23, 2016 Author Posted September 23, 2016 Hi guys thank you all for your replys . The pharapet gutter is all the way around the house. A 2-3 foot wide channel so gutter brushes and rolled wire are no good we have tried them all . I will investigate which alarm panel we have and see if it can have a separate zone and internal alarm .
