Novexx Posted September 23, 2016 Share Posted September 23, 2016 I'm looking at installing a system in an industrial unit, nothing that complicated; Control panel with batter back up keypad (possibly prox) PSTN dialler Bell / sounder 2 x door contacts 2 x PIR's / sensors 2 x Smoke detectors I had considered a wireless system as the majority of sensors / stuff will be at the opposite end of the building from the panel, but the consensus seems to be that wired is more secure & less troublesome, so my preference would be a hard wired Honewell system. I was looking at the Accenta initially, but the cost increases noticeably when a PSTN dialler is added , so I'm now looking at something along the lines of the Galaxy G2-12 / G2-20 or a Flex FX020, so; Do these systems sound about right for the requirements? I've done plenty of network & CCTV installation in the past, so I imagine (hope anyway) that the wiring side of things of things shouldn't be too difficult, but from what I've read the Galaxy can be problematic to programme - is it too problematic for a DIY'er? An alarm system is not required for insurance if that whay you mean? J.W. - I'm looking at Galaxy systems, because adding up the costs it's little more than what's down the range from them, they add features & appear to have a higher specification. Interesting point, from my POV the Accenta isn't enough (I assume you won't be going for the LCD keypad, and on the Accenta it's a bit of a bodge anyway) and indeed you'll probably find the Gal a bit taxing for a one-off installation. In any case texts over PSTN are next to useless and lines can be cut anyway. If you must DIY I'd suggest as ever a Scantronic 9651. It comes with prox, 8 zones, and an LCD keypad, without outputs for comms etc... if needed. More importantly it comes with proper printed manuals that will explain the concepts of EOL etc... to the layman.
