texecom premier power o/p fault

we had a power cut for more than 20 hours. since we are unable to set the alarm. on the pcb the following message is "power o/p fault"

 

what to do?

 

do we have to change the battery? apparently our battery is a 12 volts

 

is there any particular precaution to take while we change the battery.

Id expect that running on its battery for 20 hours it has gone completly flat and may have damaged it depending on its state to start with.

I dont know that panel but lcd looks a bit dim.

Id disconnect the battery to start with and meter your power outputs

Have had one displaying that message and something else, needed a new switch mode power supply unit.

Assume faulty battery has gone very low ohms and is dragging down overall voltage to below 12V, causing a fault?

Seen this quite often on a site that is having building works/prone to sparks turning power on/off.

As Mr H, Just a simple reset is required-hazard a guess at software glitch-possibly!.

IIRC all the elites produce both "mains fail" & "power o/p" when the mains is off

 

I'd guess its something to do with the 4 pin molex pin on the switch mode psu

 

the switch mode psu is also a bit naff & much more likeley to fail compared to transformer

Its true there is so little to actually go wrong with a lump of metal, but plenty to go wrong with a bunch of Chinese silicone...

We have had a few switched mode PSUs fail. Texecom say its due to mains problems but they should be more robust. Their Tech Support said that they have "Over Engineered" the PSUs to get round the problem. I don't know if they are installing them in all new panels though. Perhaps someone from Texecom will tell us. Adrian?. Jim
