jg999 Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 Hi I'm new to this forum so be gentle! Having been away from installations for a couple of years, I'm back doing a Galaxy 2-20 installation for a related family business. However, I'm looking for a steer on the SMS signalling. Previous 2-20 installations that I have done were ARC only, not using the SMS option. I understand that this is a secondary notification should the primary ARC fail. However this will not have ARC comms, so I'm setting this up with the Comms Fail Time for the ARC set to a minimum, so that it will go straight to SMS notification to the 3 numbers allocated. This is primarily to advise the owner of set/unset notification and intruder activation. I'm looking to get a SMS centre number that will work. If need be that can be a subscription service, but not sure where to look for this information. Any info gratefully received...thanks Quote
Jim Randle Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 Hi jg999, I Think this one still works 07785499993. Jim Quote
datadiffusion Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 (edited) Hats off to SPC, they use ETSI, not the terrible TAP - ETSI is actively supported by BT and the texts are sent and arrive in approx 2 seconds, even on an ADSL line. I can't work out why other manufacturers don't use this format?? james.wilson Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 Set up semaphore or smoke never use tap its awful Quote securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
datadiffusion Posted October 8, 2016 Posted October 8, 2016 But if you must use TAP this service no longer requires registration (never used it mind) https://www.open-telecom.co.uk/cms/products-services/opentap-tap-to-sms-email-gateway-service-provider/ Quote So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands
GalaxyGuy Posted October 8, 2016 Posted October 8, 2016 At least the BT service is ~10p per UK SMS. 1/5 of the OpenTAP price per message. Quote
jg999 Posted October 10, 2016 Author Posted October 10, 2016 Hi Guys, Many thanks for the post with information...much appreciated. Just to follow up with GalaxyGuy & datadiffusion, how do I get to use the BT service? This seems to be a cheaper and more reliable option. Is the 2-20 panel compatible with the BT service? Thanks Quote

Thanks You don't BT supports only the far superior ETSI protocol which for some odd reason panel manufactures don't appear to use, but most consumer DECT phones and the Siemens SPC panel do. Edit - and HKC it would seem... Edited October 10, 2016 by datadiffusion Quote So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands

datadiffusion Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 Just now, james.wilson said: only etsi panels I know are the spc and the hkc Which is mad, I can't believe it's a huge problem, surely a software thing? Interesting though, two RoI designed panels... Quote So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands
