Griffmaster Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 Hi. Have bought a new Yuasa 12v battery for inside my Abacus panel. Is it just a case of unplugging the old and plugging in the new in Engineer mode? Not sure about it affecting programming etc. Thanks. Quote
datadiffusion Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 If you have the engineer code, yes things are much simplified, although we always warn about the mains voltages present in the panel, etc... I would also check the battery again in a day or two to make sure it is actually charging. Quote So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands
Griffmaster Posted November 21, 2016 Author Posted November 21, 2016 So just a case of unplugging the old without risk of data loss etc. Quote
datadiffusion Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 Nope, all alarms have an NVM of some kind or another (although one day, anything between 10-25 years I guess, this will eventually fail itself as in the 9800 etc...) Besides a trained installer would usually leave the mains running anyway - although we can't recommend 'working live'. Griffmaster Posted November 21, 2016 Author Posted November 21, 2016 Thanks for that datadiffusion. I have no problem with mains left connected, quite use to working around electrics. Quote
datadiffusion Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 No worries, "at your own risk" etc... etc... Quote So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands

datadiffusion Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 No, none of them are probably quite old enough yet I guess, our 9800 went at only just 12 years old but I know that was a specific 'wire eprom' issue.
