Yes, some wouldn't recommend it but will save the external bell from sounding. 5 minutes ago, ScotsGuy said: Also i note about not shorting the 12v/0v wires - how would that happen? As above it won't if you disconnect the wires at the main box first Quote So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands
ScotsGuy Posted February 13, 2017 Author Posted February 13, 2017 Hi All, So i have the required parts now. I managed to get another 9930 keypad as a temporary measure so will put this in until i can upgrade to the newer keypad. One question i have is : Do i need to disconnect the 12v and 0v wires from inside the panel first or can i just remove the 4 wires going to the old keypad and connect straight into the new keypad without opening the panel box up? I suspect there might be an issue doing it this way (is that what you meant by shorting the cables). Thanks for your reply in advance.... Quote
al-yeti Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 If you know what your doing just sawp it live Otherwise disconnect all four from panel , it's easy to take off 12v at PC end and still make a mistake You have fire extinguisher nearby? Quote
