HoofHearted Posted June 4, 2017 Posted June 4, 2017 A good many years ago I installed a Bosch Abacus Evolution Alarm panel and 3 zone expanders. Not long afterwards the series was discontinued. I was told subsequently, that actually this a Castle Caretech panel which had been re-badged by Bosch. I bought some Castle Caretech prox tags and I was pleased to find that they worked. I want replace my panel now, possibly with the Castle Caretech Euro 46. Is there any chance that my existing zone expanders will be compatible? Quote

MrHappy Posted June 4, 2017 Posted June 4, 2017 I'd guess its a euro 44+ with the zem which plugged onto a PSU (if needed) Quote Mr Veritas God
HoofHearted Posted June 4, 2017 Author Posted June 4, 2017 Thanks for the replies. I've uploaded photos of both the Panel and Expander pcb's. Quote
HoofHearted Posted June 4, 2017 Author Posted June 4, 2017 On the 4 way connector, A and B are the power supply. C and D are the RS485. Quote
HoofHearted Posted June 4, 2017 Author Posted June 4, 2017 Let me ask the question a little differently..... Assuming that the supply voltage is the same, would it be safe to try my existing zone expanders with a new panel. I'm an IT manager. So I know about networking. I think it will either work or it won't. In my experience an incompatible communication protocol isn't going to kill anything. Quote
james.wilson Posted June 4, 2017 Posted June 4, 2017 looks like a euro 28 pcb id assume they would work. you also have an msx card and a 232 card fitted? Quote securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
HoofHearted Posted June 5, 2017 Author Posted June 5, 2017 A memory expansion card and a telephone dialer card. I think that's what you just said. Quote
HoofHearted Posted June 5, 2017 Author Posted June 5, 2017 Actually I think the dialler is on the main board and the slot-in card is RS232, but I never got it to work. Quote
