I was bored the other day & was messing at work, using Wireshark I can see everything on my network sending packets of data (whatever) as expected.

Our alarm signals via a TCD,oddly I can't see any data connected to its IP ?

I can see data when I ping.....

Being just a simple alarm monkey... can anyone explains whats happening ?

You wont see all traffic on the network unless you are using an ancient hub or a managed switch with port mirroring, some traffic will be invisible to the machine running wireshark, most of the traffic you see will be broadcast traffic.

I can't say I've ever wanted to know.

You can never be too careful, I like to be sure who is around me before I start looking at the stuff youve posted in the Mod lounge
