polybear01 Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 Hi, I have a couple of Pyronix Equinox E dual tec PIR's that have been great; however I'm now finding that they are becoming less sensitive during walk test (but no false alarms though). In fairness they're 20+ years old.... Is such behaviour the norm, and if so I've been looking at Pyronix KX15DT's - are these a worthy replacement? One last question - the Equinox E states a relay contact via a 4.7 ohm series resistor, yet the KX15DT incorporates selectable alarm resistor values of 6K8, 5K6, 4K7 &1K & tamper values of 5K6, 4K7, 2K2 and 1K. So what should I select? My panel tech spec. quotes a "Zone Activation Resistance" of 2Kohms (minimum)" if that's of help. Many thanks in advance polybear01 Quote
sixwheeledbeast Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 I have known older Pyronix sensors to decrease there coverage with age so it is a good idea to consider upgrading. I imagine most DT's would be suitable replacements. If your panel in double pole you are likely not to need selecting of any resistance and wire like for like. Quote
polybear01 Posted July 30, 2017 Author Posted July 30, 2017 Many thanks; the zone type is described as "Normally closed loops which activate when opened or connected to 0 volts from dc power supply" - nothing about double pole though? polybear01 Quote

Adjusting pot min to max a dozen times will probably see it right ? Quote Mr Veritas God
polybear01 Posted July 30, 2017 Author Posted July 30, 2017 Many thanks for the tip - it's sorted one but the other appears dead, so a new one (or possibly 2, bearing in mind postage costs being the same for 1 or 2, and they're only 20 quid each anyway) is needed. polybear01 Quote
james.wilson Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 iirc Pyronix had issues with the lens degrading. You used to be able to get replacement lens Quote securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
sixwheeledbeast Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 I have tried messing with the pot before but you seem to only get a few extra years out of them. Also been to a good few that have stuck active with the circuit board red hot, more of a reason to get them replaced. Quote
polybear01 Posted July 30, 2017 Author Posted July 30, 2017 This is the cheapest I've found, once delivery is included - unless anyone can advise otherwise? https://www.citysecuritysystems.co.uk/pyronix-dual-tech polybear01 Quote
