Peter Cannons Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 I have this old system installed which died when the Bell standby battery expired a few years ago. I bought a replacement battery but never fitted it. l abandonned it after the control panel displayed the ‘contact installer’ message. However having tried to recently resurrect it, I managed to get the system to re-boot but it appears to have reverted to it’s original start date (1989) and settings - no longer recognising the later entry code. Sensors appear to function OK but are no longer recognised. The system has remained powered up throughout although will have suffered periodic mains interruptions. Is there any one around who could possible assist with this please. I have the impression that this was and it a good system , installed by the previous occupier, and am loathe to just bin it if there are people around (N Essex) who could actually get it going again. I still have some old Psion gear but not the specialist programmer needed for this job. Thanks for your attention. Quote

Isn't this from back in the days when Michael Barrymore was a TV star & the Ford Sierra was a best selling car ? I'd advise you "to let your fingers do the walking" & reach for the yellow pages & look for new one 1 Quote Mr Veritas God
norman Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 Yes, an old ATI - Protection One - ADT system, I'd imagine any engineers who were able to programme via the Psion would be dead now anyway... Quote Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
norman Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 How old is your car btw? Quote Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.

Christ, when I was dealing with specialist hardware in 2001 that used Psion IIIs we were having to raid eBay for spare serial leads etc... even then! Psion were just about going and still supplying rom cards direct. They actually sent us one of those USB DAB radios we bought so many. It was as dreadful as all the reviews said, but fair enough, innovative at a time when dedicated sets were still £400ish. 1 Quote So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands

The 6000 was way ahead of its time, decent panel tbf and quite simple to prog ,and I'm still alive 1 Quote
Peter Cannons Posted October 11, 2017 Author Posted October 11, 2017 Thank you all for your helpful (and amusing) comments, I guess it’s the end of the road for what was in it’s heyday a good system as indeed were the Psion IIl’s. Quote

Best pop them in all in a cardboard box & take a trip to the local council tip in your Vauxhall Omega ? 1 Quote Mr Veritas God
