Scantronic 9600 with two SABs

How do I connect two SABs to a Scantronic 9600?

I've simply doubled up on connections but for whatever reason the bell box tamper isn't working and neither is the strobe light.

Any ideas?

Connect the Hold Off, Trigger and Strobe in parallel. Then connect the Tamper of both boxes in series.

If you do not understand this, you should get a professional to help

:)

If you don't know......ask.

What bellboxes are you using because the current draw may be too much for the panel.

Ive used two bells on a 9600 before and it takes it ok but if in doubt check loading in alarm and if too much fit a power supply to power pirs etc.

as to the bell connect +ve feed(*2) in parellel, strobe (*2)and bell op (*2)on parellel, -ve feed to 1st bell , -ve tamper return from first bell to -ve feed of 2nd bell, and last but not least -ve tamper return from 2nd bell to -ve tamper in control box.

When fitting two bells we use one SAB & one SCB on the gardtec bell in is just a process of changing a jumper on one bell box.

Why?

I've used 2 x Gardtec Delta Metal Series (both in SAB mode).

I think I've sussed the tamper problem out now although I'm still a little bemused as to why the strobe fails, there again I don't know how much current two strobe circuits pull and I don't know how much current the 9600's strobe output can sink/source?

Perhaps I'll try putting a relay in to drive the 2 x strobes from the aux supply, surely that'll have more umphh?

The gardtec deltas use a high amount of current in sab mode change one to scb, because as soon as the unit goes into alarm the bell fuse will blow

I hate it when I see this done! I don't believe the negative return is designed to carry the load of powering another SAB module - it is signal current only. I may get shot down for saying that, but I have seen this wiring method causing problems before.

When using two bells, I prefer to wire them as per manufacturer spec (the Texecom Odyssey range have a pretty nifty way of wiring two SABs together) or use a relay per tamper circuit, and put the N/C contacts of the relays in series.

In the very rare event of two sabs we have used that method without problems.

All depends on the connections available, yes the odyssey range has a good method but two sabs is quite dated now i reckon, no one takes any notice of one!

Get one decent siren, tamper the decoy if thats an issue and get connected to a c/s.

I prefer to have a clean circuit wired straight into a spare zone and programmed as 24 hour. You can give each bell its own description then (depending on the panel used obviously!)

Even better!!
