Allso Posted November 4, 2004 Posted November 4, 2004 A new surface mounted magnet and switch have had to be mounted a few mm apart because of the design of a particular door & frame. All works fine now, but with time might the strength of the magnetic field decrease, and the distance become a problem? Allso

Not normally, are the door or frame metal..? ........................................................ Dave Partridge (Romec Service Engineer)

As for the magnet losing magnetism, it is unlikely but a new contact with fresh magnet is only a matter of pence and if that's too expensive just re-magnetise the magnet.
Allso Posted November 5, 2004 Author Posted November 5, 2004 The door/frame are uPVC. They are a lot nearer than 20mm, so looks as if its not an issue. Thanks Allso
