neilb Posted November 8, 2004 Posted November 8, 2004 Had my shed broke into last night so i wondered if anyone here could recommend a good setup to use. I have a pc thats on 24/7 so im thinking towards a pc based camera system. I need at least 3 cams. Also what is the best software to use. Im looking for something that will allow me to auto upload motion captured images to a remote server. Afterall whats the point of having all that incriminating evidence on your pc if the thief nicks it. 1 last thing, could you recommend some half decent cameras that work at night as well. I'm looking for a super cheap solution here by the way guys
Guest PaulR Posted November 8, 2004 Posted November 8, 2004 Think I can help here, have a look on wwww.securityinstore.com at the PC based stuff. Look at the Product Focus on the Intro page, and the Quadcam unit in particular. You don't even need to open the PC up and it will run whilst you have other applications on. If you know about PC's a bit you should be OK, plus it is the cheapest way to do it. If you don't then get a stand alone DVR as they are a lot more reliable. (again, I can help on that one). Downside of PC based CCTV is that it will slow you PC down. Also, it would be wise to fit an Uninterrupted Power Supply, as it can cause a few problems when your PC crashes. There are more than a few dodgy cards out there too, we spent a long time researching and mucking about with ours before we put it out for sale. As a UK card designed in the UK there are no compatability problems either on anything other than perhaps Celeron (but the P4 is the best)
