You can check for a negative return on the tamper wire from the siren at the panel end. At the control panel identify the correct wire from the siren, remove from the control panel and put the negative probe of your multi-meter on it, the positive probe onto a 12+ source, if the tamper loop is complete the multimeter will show c12v, if the tamper loop is broken it will show 0v Be careful there is mains voltage present in the control panel so only do this if you are competent, otherwise call a specialist.
