Guest angela Posted November 11, 2004 Posted November 11, 2004 We've had a Scantronic 9800 alarm for the past 8 years and it works perfectly except that we can't change the user code. We have the user manual and followed the instructions several times but each time it seems to just ignore the new setting. We also know the engineer code and that also works fine. Does this mean we need a new control panel?
morph Posted November 11, 2004 Posted November 11, 2004 No it doesn't mean you need a new a Panel. What are you doing to change the code and how does the panel respond?
norman Posted November 11, 2004 Posted November 11, 2004 No, it means you are trying to change a code using a user code and not a manager code (probably) Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
Guest angela Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 No it doesn't mean you need a new a Panel. What are you doing to change the code and how does the panel respond? 31044[/snapback] We're following the instructions in the manual: Enter User code (we enter old code) Press 4 (we press number 4 on the panel) Enter existing User code (we enter old code) Enter new code (we enter new code) Press Clear (we press the Clear key on the panel) Try to set alarm with the new code - nothing happens Try with old code - works!! Any ideas? I don't know of any 'manager' code only the engineer code which worked fine when we had to disable the alarm for renovations.
ian.cant Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 Yeah your doing everything right except that your not using the manager code to access the change codes option. If you only know of the code you are currently using then you will need to have the panel re-programmed im afraid. If you have other codes then hopefully one of them will be the manager code. If you get no joy let us know what area you are in and maybe one of the guys here can arrange to help you out. Failing that use your yellow pages and contact a local company.
