Securitech c&k - Active 5

Good morning all

 

I have an Securitech c&k active 5 alarm on my house.  It was there when i moved in a number of years ago, so assume it is quite old now, however it does still work and i use it daily.  Over the years a number of sensors have been disabled and there is along of cable running from the box for these unused senors which isnt needed, i also have a panic button (see attached), which i want to disconnect.  

 

I know the box has a tamper switch so i cant just take the front off and have a look in there without, i assume putting in some kind of code.  I obviously know the code to set/unset the alarm but not sure if this is going to be ok and dont want to take the front off and not be able to silence the alarm!  I need to sort this out relatively urgently as have a plaster coming and need to get it done before that. When i moved in about 6 years ago i did get someone out to get it working and they changed the internal battery and disconnected the sensors that weren't working so the alarm would set, but i cant remember what they did now. 

 

I was wondering if anyone had a manual or could offer any advice to help me.  Im hoping once i can take the front of the panel i can work out which cables arent now connect and i can remove and that i can disconnect and get rid of the panic button, so the system just works with the sensor that are still there and working.

 

Im not adverse to calling out someone to look at it, but i assume because its so old may not be easy finding someone at short notice...?

Hello and welcome Poppy, 

 

If the battery is 6 years old it would require replacing, this is recommended every 4 years, so I would suggest getting someone out to replace the battery, service the system and carry out the alterations all at the same time, this should save you numerous call out fee's.
