It will be good when someone produces one of these doorbells that works like they do in the adverts. Maybe they will work better when we have 5g, but I somehow doubt it when they are useless on WiFi

If they could make a Poe version or ethernet only would be better

 Hi Guys,

Thank you for your replies and feedback.

Especially RING the way the advertised , is like it works without any issues or break in interference of WiFi, must be a way of thier marketing skills.

Sixwheeledbeast is saying neither, so you are saying they will be waste of time,as no guarantee I will get a call on my mobile due to issues with WiFi dropout and so on.

The reason I was thinking of Hikvision , as they have been doing the cctv and lot of trade use them , so they must be good decent quality and plus side of you can add Micro Sd card, so you don’t have to pay iCloud to subscribe. Plus I can then connect it to my existing Chime, if I want to or keep me old door bell, as back up to ring inside the house Only and this new video door bell as well.

Peter James mentioned it records on droids, is this Android or records somewhere else ?

I can always try RING out and buy it from Argos and see how it goes, but Hikvision only certain people sells it, so it limited where you can buy , not like RING, where you can buy it from almost all retailers.

Test the RING door bell out and if I do experience delays or Drop out, then it will be certain it will not work for me, but to do this trial it will not give me true identity of the product, as it has to be ideally tested for 12 months in All weather conditions, daylight, nighttime and the usage depending on how many people pressing the Button and size of the family.

Alyeti mentioned Relay bit missing on the RING ,what is this ?   Can this be fitted as additional by the installer or this has to be done by the manufacturer.

so I need also look at an option if the video bell has the option ONVIF, so this will communicate with the NVR.

I thinks the Model KB8112-IM made by Hikvision is Poe.

James Wilson say I work for Hikvision, NO I don’t work for Hikvision, my profession was Plumbing and heating in 1988 , but now had to retired early due Arthiritis , Knees and ankle are very sore when working and kneeling on floors and body use to ache making me feel like and old man and I am only 48 and happened quite early. I had to change job and now have to work in the office.

The reason I asked you guys , as you will know and can give me your honest opinion and my Mrs wants it ,so when we are on Holiday and can answer the Ring or can check on the app playback.

I note the Video Door bell will work, but not as it should ,as there is still teething problem for WiFi and may be delays in getting the call on the mobile phone.

The pro way to do it would be a GSM intercom maybe combined with a decent CCTV system or the like, depends on the job tho...

Sounds familiar, crawling around fitting this stuff for a living is also an occupational hazard.

Driod is andriod, but I dont have Hik or Ring anymore I sent them back, I have a cheapo Chinese one from Ebay which on the whole worked better than the other two, but still doesnt work like the advert.

My honest opinion, there isnt a doorbell product that works like the Ring ad....yet. There will be as it is improving all the time. I would recommend a cheapo £30.00 Chines one until they do bring one out that actually works, either that or get a Comlit VIP system, they do work but they are hard wired not WiFi quite a bit bigger than ring or Hik, and considerably more expensive.

I know alarm engineers that cant wire up two way lighting, never hear them say lights are rubbish, they would just google how to do it. I suppose thats the difference between, our trade and sparkies

Thanks Peter.

Which Cheapo brand did you buy from Ebay, I can have a look at it and see if this is suitable for me. Comelit Kit VIP, I don’t want to spend That much and plus , I don’t want the gate or door to be opened, as I only need to see who rang and whose outside, so I can open the door myself or attend to the Door.

Mine is a few years old now, cant remember the make and there are no names on it. Just had a look on ebay and there are hundreds of different ones now, mine looks quite old in comparison. The app that works with mine is called smartbell. This one looks like it may be the updated version, the ancillaries are the same and the app looks the same

Hi Sorry to bother you again Guys,

I have purchased the below from Ebay for £44.00, as he was moving house and he used it on 18Volt transformer.

On the installation it is saying 24Volt, but I am not sure the Amp, as I will be operating the Video Door Bell and the Ding Dong Chime.

How many Amps do I need for the Transformer is it 1amp or 2 amp, as I will need 24Volt.

I will need to know the cable length, as I will need minimum of 2 metres, as my 240V socket is just behind the front Door.

Power supply 16 VAC to 24 VAC

Power Frequency 50hz to 60 hz.

Power Consumtion 0.6A

Power Consumtion 12W

Your help will be Appreciated.
