Ppatrick Posted April 9, 2019 Posted April 9, 2019 Hi, thank you for allowing me to join the forum, we are NICEIC Approved Electrical contractors domestic, commercial & industrial and whilst we are not a massive intruder alarm installers at the moment (around 60+ a year) we have taken the decision to expand on this side of our business, it’s mainly the domestic market that we are interested in, when we’ve grown this side of the business we’ll look at taking someone on to manage that part of the business, our existing reputation is on service and quality workmanship and hopefully this will help in our plans, we strongly believe that every day is a school day and we’re always looking to take onboard advice. PeterJames Posted April 9, 2019 Posted April 9, 2019 Hi and Welcome I am always confused when I see electrical contractors, moving into security. I dont know why it just has a "Jack of all trades" ring about it. I suppose it is because all the electrical contractors we work with, use us as their specialist contractors, and just do the electrical works. They could all fit an alarm themselves the same as we can install a ring main, but neither would make as nice a job of it as the other. Quote
sixwheeledbeast Posted April 9, 2019 Posted April 9, 2019 I would say you maybe worth considering a partnership type deal where you pass security to someone and they pass you electrical and minor works for spurs. They are two completely different disciplines IMO and although there is overlap like with all things in BS7671, generally for most places it's not beneficial to do both. Quote
