I still say a good, well maintained, fit for purpose system wouldn't need ripping out. People are too quick to add to the E-waste pile IMO. It's easy to say you swap your car or phone more regularly than your alarm but most of this consumer stuff is designed with a short lifespan in mind and you are trapped to a platform. A lot of my electronic equipment is 10 years old but its well looked after, I'd only plan to replace it when it's unserviceable. 1 1 Quote

You can push as many shiny new boxes as you want but customers want a good service, it's the peace of mind and trust in your system and installer people should focus on. Specialist Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 To me, shiny new boxes are all well and good in their place. i.e when I definitely can't bring something back to life. Maybe I'm just a masochist Quote Customers Love us, Intruders Hate us.

jezthomp Posted June 6, 2019 Author Posted June 6, 2019 The engineer has been and it was the bloke who's been before and said we had been locked out because of the power cut. Already has his battery with him, went to the main box and asked me to put my code in when the alarm went off. Came back down walk tested all the sensors and that was it fixed. Said all our settings, code etc will be the same. So as people suggested it was the battery that needed replacing. In theory is this something i could do in the future as it was obviously my code and not the engineer code when he opened the box and the tamper switch went off? Battery needed is a rechargeable 12v battery in region of 1.2 to 6Ah. And even worse worse case scenario the alarm only goes off for 20mins on a Accenta 6? Thank you for all the help :) Quote

Thank you for all the help : Hi Jez: Yes, from what you've said then it's quite feasible for you to change the battery yourself in the future. Did he take a meter up into the attic to check charging voltage / current ?. Sorry: Not sure what you mean by even worse case scenario, bell only sounds for 20 minutes on the Accenta 6 ?. That's more than enough time to deter a burglar and really annoy your neighbours. Edited June 6, 2019 by Specialist Quote Customers Love us, Intruders Hate us.
Specialist Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 Sorry was trying to do several things at once, your Installer should have set the sounder cut off time to no more than 15 minutes. Quote Customers Love us, Intruders Hate us.
